Ahead of the annual Jagannath Yatra, the cabinet minister along with his wife Sonal Shah offered prayers to Lord Jagannath. Amit Shah is on a two-day visit to Gujarat. This is his first visit to Gujarat after he took over as Union Home Minister.

Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday summoned Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik over the communal clashes and temple vandalism that took place on Sunday night in central Delhi's Hauz Qazi area.

A clash had broken out between two groups over parking. Later, the 100-year-old Durga temple in the area was vandalised. On Wednesday, one more person was arrested in connection with the incident in old Delhi. Three persons including a minor were arrested earlier.

Amit Shah will reach Ahmedabad by 3 pm and outside the airport he will be welcomed.

"BJP MLA Leena Jain has complained to police that she has received a hand-written letter threatening to kill her and also BJP president and Union Home Minister in a bomb blast whenever he visits Ganjbasoda town," Vidisha Superintendent of Police Vinayak Verma said.

The Centre had no option but to extend the President's rule for six months in Jammu and Kashmir as the Election Commission intends to hold assembly polls there towards the end of the year, Home Minister Amit Shah told Rajya Sabha on Monday as he moved a statutory resolution in this regard.
